"I've got a deal for you, Goblin! [...] I want you to steal an ambassador's scepter."

throws vial of Amber "There'll be ten times more if you help me, Styx."

Helledryn is the captain of a C.A.R.N.A.G.E. squad, a group of elite humans dedicated to killing off all Goblins to protect the Human Empire's citizens.

She is curious about the political development around the Dark Elves of Korrangar and employs Styx to steal the means of invitation send to Ambassador Arsidi: a mysterious scepter. Despite Styx's failure to do so, they team up as business partners and continue to investigate the matter together.

Personality

Helledryn holds the rank of captain not for nothing. She is strong, both physically and psychologically and even knows how to drink, gaining more respect for that than the other members of her squad. She knows what she wants when she does business with Styx and she upholds the values of being a good business woman, honoring the deal no matter what. She's direct and witty, quite capable to handle herself in almost any situation.

Biography

Background

Helledryn must have come to hear about Styx's reputation some time before Styx: Shards of Darkness and decided to employ him for a professional theft.

Styx: Shards of Darkness

The Deal with Styx

She ambushes Styx after his meeting with Ephron and offers him a deal. She instructs him to retrieve an "ambassadors scepter". In exchange for completing this task she promises Styx to supply him with ample amounts of the mysterious elixir known as Amber, the source of Styx's powers.

New Approach

Helledryn isn't very happy learning about what happened on the Ambassador's airship, nor does she initially believe Styx's tale about a shapeshifting elf. She explains Styx that the scepter is an invitation to a summit held at Korrangar. Since her goal to spy on the summit itself still stands, and given that Styx also expresses interest to pursue this further (not to mention him still wanting all that Amber of hers), she proposes to infiltrate Korrangar by different means: turning into a merchant ship.

Getting into Korrangar

She tells Styx to add her ship to the register and secure her an entry pass, so that her airship can enter and moor Korrangar. She drops him off nearby on the cliff and waits for his signal. Once he loosens the small hot air balloon she moves her vessel into the entrance port. Styx slides the pass under her cabin door and so allows Helledryn to pass unhindered.

Preparing for the Summit

While Styx took a stroll through the city, Helledryn managed to find out who exactly is attending the summit and where it takes place. She will need some means of official entry to the Sanctum and a disguise to remain undetected. Styx in turn wants her to flush Djarak into his direction during the summit, so he is happy to help.

Helledryn proceeds ahead of Styx to the Sanctum and opens a window for him when he joins her with a guard's uniform and a Sanctum pass. Once inside, Helledryn takes her place as guard at the summit, while Styx takes 10 more minutes to find out which identity Djarak has stolen and shapeshifted into.

The Summit

Helledryn stands by, disguised as a guard. After the demonstration is over, she approaches the Catfish Ambassador and tells him he is wanted outside. Djarak figures it is a trick and tries to assassinate Lyssril then and there. His attempt fails and he flees. Helledryn doesn't involve herself further and returns to her airship.

She had anticipated a war or alliance, but not simply the organised trade of life goblins. As Styx rightfully suggest, she may have to ponder about her new career options, since C.A.R.N.A.G.E. might run into serious competition with this new and free goblin trade.

Getting Styx out of Korrangar

After the summit, Styx asks Helledryn to give him a few more hours, as he wants to get his hands on some pure Quartz. When he returns, news has already spread of him slaying Lakima and Korrangar is locking down. She is pissed at him for good reason, as she will be stuck there, too. Nonetheless, she offers him help in escaping the area: She suggests he strip (his armour only) in order to blend in with the other goblins and allow himself to be handed in. From the goblin prison he would be able to escape towards Wildoran and make his own way home. Helledryn will take his equipment and leave it in a safe place where he can recover it. Disgruntled Styx agrees and Helledryn takes him to the Dark Elves. She cannot help but tease Styx inside the cage, calling him a "stupid, green turd". She then drops his clothes in a chest on the barge leading to Wildoran and remains on stand-by the prison gate in case Styx needs her to open it for him.

Returning to Thoben

It takes Helledryn a couple of weeks to return to Thoben herself. She manages to locate Styx in his hideout and drinks a little too much in her frustration of having been completely deserted. On top of that, the reward promised for Styx's service has been taken as well. All Helledryn can think of is offering her airship instead. While she rests from her drinking, Styx takes on the deserters for her. Unfortunately, the Dark Elves have found Styx's hideout as well, and when they encounter Helledryn, they overpower her and knock her out.

Korrangar once more

Helledryn is taken back to Korrangar alongside Styx, however, once there they are separated. She is put into a cage inside the Labyrinth of Passage and she remains there for some time until Styx happens to pass by her cell. She doesn't ask him for help getting out of the cage, she considers it "childsplay", however she asks him for a bit of assistance getting rid of the giant troll in the area. Once Styx does so, she is left to her own devices.

Appearance

Helledryn is a tall human female. She is well dressed, donning a suit of armour, with a metal chestplate embossed with the red & black logo of C.A.R.N.A.G.E.. She wears a leather baldric and a purple cape, with a chainmail vest & skirt beneath the chestplate. She also has a royal purple sash tied around her waist, as well as possessing metal wrist and foot bracer armor pieces. In a close up shot shown in the official E3 Trailer she has two scars on her face, one cutting through her right eyebrow, and another, more fresh appearing one appearing just below her lip on the right hand side.
